Description

Delight in these soft and fluffy Strawberry Glazed Donuts, a perfect treat combining tender baked donuts with a sweet, fresh strawberry glaze. Baked to perfection, these donuts offer a light texture enhanced by a luscious strawberry icing that’s easy to prepare and sure to satisfy your sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • ½ cup buttermilk (at room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted and cooled slightly)
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract

Strawberry Glaze

  • ¼ cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tbsp milk (optional, to adjust glaze consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350° F (175° C). Lightly spray your donut molds with nonstick spray to ensure easy removal after baking and set them aside.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk the room temperature egg, buttermilk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the donut batter light and tender.
  5. Fill Donut Molds: Transfer the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag with the tip cut off. Pipe the batter evenly into the donut molds, filling each about halfway. If using silicone molds, place them on a baking sheet to provide stability.
  6. Bake Donuts: Place the molds in the oven and bake for 9 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool Donuts: Remove the donut molds from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes. Carefully remove the donuts from the molds and transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely before glazing.
  8. Prepare Strawberry Glaze: Add the chopped strawberries to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth to create fresh strawberry puree.
  9. Make the Icing: Pour the strawberry puree into a bowl and mix in the powdered sugar until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add milk gradually up to ½ tablespoon to reach desired consistency. If too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  10. Glaze the Donuts: Dip the cooled donuts into the strawberry glaze or drizzle it on top. Allow the glaze to set before serving to enjoy the perfect balance of moist donuts and sweet glaze.

Notes

  • Make sure ingredients like egg and buttermilk are at room temperature for the best batter texture.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep your donuts light and fluffy.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the glaze for optimal flavor.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, use a sturdy zip-top bag with the corner snipped off.
  • Cooling the donuts completely before glazing prevents the icing from melting and sliding off.
  • Store glazed donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
