Description

This refreshing Orange Cinnamon Tea is a delightful blend of aromatic cinnamon, robust black tea, and fresh navel orange juice, sweetened with honey and served chilled over ice. Perfect for a revitalizing afternoon drink or a subtle, fruity alternative to your usual tea.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 1 cup water (240ml)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, rinsed (about 0.4 oz or 10-12g)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons black tea

Additional Ingredients

  • Juice from 2 navel oranges (just under 1 cup/220-240ml)
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey
  • Plenty of ice

Instructions

  1. Simmer Cinnamon: Add water and cinnamon sticks to a small saucepan. Place over medium heat and heat until the water is about to bubble rapidly, then lower to a gentle simmer. Cover with the lid slightly askew and simmer for 4-5 minutes to infuse the cinnamon flavor.
  2. Steep Black Tea: Turn off the heat and add black tea to the saucepan. Cover with the lid slightly askew again and steep for another 4-5 minutes to allow the tea to brew fully.
  3. Strain and Sweeten: Strain the brewed tea to remove cinnamon sticks and tea leaves. Stir in honey until fully dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly to prepare for serving.
  4. Shake with Orange Juice and Ice: If using a cocktail shaker, add half of the brewed tea, half of the orange juice, and plenty of ice cubes. Shake vigorously to chill and mix thoroughly. Then, add ice to a serving glass and pour the shaken iced tea into the glass immediately.
  5. Alternative Chill Method: If no cocktail shaker is available, chill the brewed tea separately in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes. Once chilled, stir in the orange juice. Pour over ice-filled serving glasses for a refreshing drink.

Notes

  • Use fresh navel oranges for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Adjust honey quantity to your preferred level of sweetness.
  • Steeping times can be adjusted slightly for stronger or lighter tea flavor.
  • Shaking the tea creates a frothy, well-blended iced tea but chilling separately works just as well.
  • This tea is best served immediately after preparation for optimal freshness and flavor.
