Description

This One Pot Boursin Pasta is a creamy, flavorful dish made with tender ditalini pasta cooked directly in chicken broth and finished with rich garlic and fine herbs Boursin cheese. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a perfect weeknight dinner that combines simplicity with gourmet taste, garnished with fresh basil, parmesan, and a touch of chili flakes for a spicy kick.

Ingredients

Butter & Aromatics

  • 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter (divided)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, finely minced

Pasta & Liquids

  • 1 ½ cups uncooked ditalini pasta
  • 2 ½ cups chicken broth (or more as needed)
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream (or more as desired)

Cheese & Seasonings

  • 5.3 oz. garlic and fine herbs Boursin cheese (room temperature)
  • Salt, black pepper, chili flakes to taste
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice (1-2 Tbsp.)

Garnish

  • Fresh basil
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and sauté garlic: Heat 1 Tbsp. butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the finely minced garlic and cook, stirring constantly for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.
  2. Add pasta and coat: Add the uncooked ditalini pasta to the skillet and stir thoroughly to coat the pasta in the butter and garlic mixture.
  3. Simmer pasta in broth: Pour in 2 cups of chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, uncovered, and cook for 8-10 minutes until pasta is tender and most of the broth is absorbed. Add more broth as needed if the liquid evaporates before the pasta is fully cooked. Stir in the heavy cream and simmer a few more minutes to thicken the sauce.
  4. Add cheese and seasonings: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the remaining butter until melted. Add the Boursin cheese, salt, black pepper, and chili flakes. Finish by squeezing in fresh lemon juice and stir until creamy and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste. You may return to low heat briefly if you want the pasta creamier and warm.
  5. Garnish and serve: Serve the pasta garnished with fresh basil leaves, a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and extra chili flakes if desired. Note that the pasta will thicken as it cools; add a splash of water or broth when reheating to restore creaminess.

Notes

  • Use chicken broth for a richer flavor or substitute vegetable broth for a vegetarian variation.
  • Adjust the level of chili flakes depending on your preferred spice tolerance.
  • The dish thickens upon cooling; add liquid when reheating to maintain a creamy texture.
  • Room temperature Boursin cheese will incorporate more smoothly.
  • Fresh lemon juice brightens the flavor and balances the richness.
