Description

A rich and flavorful Mexican Coffee that combines brewed coffee with warm milk, heavy cream, chocolate syrup, and a spirited blend of Kahlua and tequila. Finished with a touch of vanilla and garnished with whipped cream, cinnamon, and chocolate shavings, this indulgent drink is perfect for cozy gatherings or a special treat.

Ingredients

Coffee and Brew

  • ¾ cup ground coffee (regular or decaf)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 5 cups water

Milk Mixture

  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup chocolate syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Spirits and Flavorings

  • 2 ounces Kahlua
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Garnish (optional)

  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coffee Grounds: Add the ground coffee and cinnamon into the filter basket of your coffee maker to infuse the coffee with a warm cinnamon flavor.
  2. Brew the Coffee: Pour 5 cups of water into the coffee pot and brew the coffee as you normally would, allowing the flavors to fully extract.
  3. Heat the Milk Mixture: While the coffee brews, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, chocolate syrup, and brown sugar in a saucepan. Place the saucepan over low heat and gently bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally to blend the ingredients smoothly.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Once the milk mixture reaches a gentle simmer, remove it from heat. Whisk in the freshly brewed coffee, Kahlua, tequila, and vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.
  5. Serve: Pour the prepared Mexican Coffee evenly into 4 cups.
  6. Garnish and Enjoy: Top each cup with whipped cream, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, and chocolate shavings if desired. Serve immediately for the best flavor and warmth.

Notes

  • You can use decaf coffee if you prefer a caffeine-free version.
  • Adjust the amount of tequila and Kahlua to taste for a milder or stronger alcoholic kick.
  • For a dairy-free alternative, substitute milk and heavy cream with coconut or almond milk, and use dairy-free chocolate syrup.
  • The chocolate syrup adds sweetness and richness; feel free to add more or less according to your preference.
  • The garnishes are optional but enhance the presentation and flavor experience.
