Description
Delicious and healthy frozen yogurt dog treats made with fresh strawberries and blueberries. These treats are simple to prepare, packed with antioxidants, and perfect for keeping your dog cool and refreshed during warm days. They offer a nutritious, low-calorie snack for your furry friend.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 cup (8 oz / 225 g) plain yogurt
- 10 fresh strawberries, diced
- 20 fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Prepare the mold: In the dog treat mold or ice cube tray, scatter the diced strawberries and whole blueberries evenly to ensure each treat will have pieces of fruit.
- Add the yogurt: Spoon the plain yogurt over the berries in each compartment, filling them evenly and smoothing the top with the back of the spoon for an even surface.
- Remove air bubbles: Tap the mold gently on the counter to eliminate any air bubbles and to help the mixture settle evenly within the compartments.
- Freeze the treats: Place the mold in the freezer and freeze for a minimum of 5 hours or preferably overnight to ensure the treats are solid and frozen through.
- Release the treats: To remove the frozen treats, tap the mold on the counter to loosen them, then carefully turn the mold upside down to release the treats. If they are difficult to remove, briefly run the mold under warm water to loosen, then release.
- Storage: Store the treats in the freezer in an airtight container or the mold itself for up to 3 months to maintain freshness and quality.
Notes
- Use plain yogurt without added sugars or artificial sweeteners to ensure the treats are safe and healthy for dogs.
- Fresh berries provide antioxidants and vitamins but always introduce new fruits gradually to monitor your dog’s tolerance.
- These treats are intended as a supplement to regular dog food and not a replacement for balanced meals.
- Always consult your veterinarian before introducing new foods to your dog’s diet, especially if your dog has allergies or dietary restrictions.
- If you don’t have a dog treat mold, ice cube trays can be used as an alternative.
