Description

These Easy Crispy Tuna Patties are a quick and delicious recipe perfect for a light lunch or dinner. Made with canned wild tuna, almond flour, and shredded mozzarella, they’re flavored with fresh dill, lemon, and Dijon mustard for a delightful taste. Pan-fried to golden perfection, these patties are crispy on the outside and tender inside, served warm and ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Tuna Patty Mixture

  • 10 ounces Canned Wild Tuna (2 cans, 5oz each, drained)
  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Fresh Dill Weed
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 large Egg
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon (plus zest)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper (or to taste)

For Frying

  • 2-3 tablespoons Avocado Oil

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, flake the drained canned wild tuna and add almond flour, shredded mozzarella, chopped dill weed, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice.
  2. Add Egg and Seasoning. Crack the egg into the bowl, squeeze in the juice of half a lemon, and season with kosher salt and black pepper.
  3. Mix Thoroughly. Using clean hands, mix all the ingredients until they are evenly combined and form a consistent mixture.
  4. Shape Patties. Rub your hands with a little oil, pinch off about a spoonful of the mixture, and shape it into patties approximately 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Chill Patties. Place the formed patties on a parchment-lined tray with space between each, then refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to help them set.
  6. Heat Oil in Skillet. Heat a heavy skillet over medium heat, add 2-3 tablespoons of avocado oil, and heat until shimmering.
  7. Fry Patties. Carefully add the tuna patties to the hot oil and cook until golden brown on each side, about 6-8 minutes total.
  8. Serve Warm. Remove patties from the skillet, let any excess oil drain briefly, then serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, make sure the patties are well chilled before frying.
  • You can substitute almond flour with panko breadcrumbs if not following a low-carb diet.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier frying and minimal oil absorption.
  • Feel free to add a pinch of smoked paprika or garlic powder for additional flavor.
  • Leftover patties can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet or oven.
