Description

This Cauliflower Steak recipe offers a flavorful and hearty vegetarian main course or side dish by roasting or grilling thick cauliflower slices seasoned with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. It’s a simple yet versatile dish perfect for a healthy meal that highlights the natural texture and taste of cauliflower.

Ingredients

Cauliflower Steaks

  • 2 heads Cauliflower
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven or grill: If roasting, preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If grilling, preheat the grill over medium heat.
  2. Cut the cauliflower: Slice each cauliflower head into steaks about 3/4 inch thick. You should get 2-3 full slices from each head. Set aside any loose florets to use in other recipes or roast them alongside.
  3. Season the cauliflower: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Brush this mixture evenly on both sides of each cauliflower steak to ensure full flavor.
  4. Roast the cauliflower steaks: Place the seasoned steaks on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, then carefully flip each steak and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes until tender and browned.
  5. Grill the cauliflower steaks: Place the steaks on the preheated grill. Cover with the grill lid and cook for 5 minutes, then flip and cover again, cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes until tender and nicely browned.

Notes

  • Use firm, fresh cauliflower heads for best slicing and holding shape.
  • Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice or your favorite sauce for added flavor.
  • The loose florets can be roasted separately for a crunchy side dish.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste; smoked paprika can be substituted for a smokier flavor.
