Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 1/2 lb pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
Green Pea Sauce
- 2 cups shelled green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1/2 shallot (minced)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 handful fresh mint leaves
- 2 handfuls fresh basil leaves
- Pinch of salt and pepper (plus more to taste)
Toppings
- 6-7 asparagus spears (ends trimmed, thinly sliced or cut in half lengthwise)
- 6 oz prosciutto (thinly sliced)
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Extra parmesan cheese for topping
Instructions
- Prepare Green Pea Sauce: Add green peas, minced garlic, minced shallot, heavy cream, fresh mint leaves, fresh basil leaves, and a pinch of salt and pepper to a food processor. Blend the mixture until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning by adding more herbs, salt, or pepper as needed. Transfer the sauce to a small bowl.
- Preheat the Oven: Heat the oven to 550°F (or as hot as your oven will safely go), ensuring it is fully preheated before baking the pizza.
- Roll Out Pizza Dough: Lightly flour your work surface and rolling pin. Roll the pizza dough from the center outwards until it is about half an inch thick in a circular shape. Place parchment paper on your pizza peel, gently lift the dough onto it.
- Assemble the Pizza: Evenly spread the prepared green pea sauce over the rolled out pizza dough. Arrange the sliced asparagus, prosciutto, and freshly grated parmesan cheese evenly on top of the sauce.
- Bake the Pizza: Carefully slide the pizza with the parchment paper onto a preheated pizza stone in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and crispy.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven. Add fresh basil leaves and extra parmesan cheese on top as desired. Slice and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen green peas; if using frozen, thaw before blending for best results.
- To get a crispier crust, ensure your oven and pizza stone are fully preheated.
- The heavy cream adds richness to the green pea sauce – do not omit for best flavor.
- You can substitute prosciutto for a vegetarian option or omit entirely for a vegetarian pizza.
- Thinly slicing the asparagus or cutting lengthwise ensures it cooks quickly and evenly in the oven.
- Use parchment paper to easily transfer the pizza onto the pizza stone without sticking.
