Ingredients
Halloumi and Spices
- 450 g (2 blocks) halloumi
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- Oil spray
Dip
- 3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Halloumi: Slice the halloumi into 2cm x 2cm chunks. Place the pieces in a bowl, add the onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Toss thoroughly until all pieces are evenly coated with the spice mixture.
- Arrange in Air Fryer: Spread the coated halloumi chunks evenly across the air fryer basket, making sure to leave gaps between pieces for proper air circulation. Lightly spray the pieces with oil to help crisp them up.
- Cook the Halloumi: Air fry at 392°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, use tongs to gently rotate the halloumi pieces to ensure even browning. Continue air frying for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the halloumi is golden brown and crisp on the outside.
- Serve: Remove the halloumi from the air fryer and serve immediately with a side of sweet chilli sauce and a crack of fresh black pepper for extra flavor contrast.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to your preferred level of spiciness.
- The oil spray is optional but helps achieve a better golden crust.
- Serve immediately for best texture as halloumi tends to soften when cooled.
- Sweet chilli sauce can be substituted with your favorite dipping sauce if desired.
