Description

These Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Meatballs are an easy, flavorful dish perfect for a hassle-free meal. With tender meatballs simmered in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, this recipe is great for busy days and can be served over rice, noodles, or vegetables for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 32 oz bag frozen fully cooked meatballs (beef, turkey, or chicken)

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for depth)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)

Garnish (optional)

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the crock pot with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the frozen meatballs evenly in the slow cooker.
  2. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic (or garlic powder), ketchup, optional sesame oil, and optional crushed red pepper flakes until well combined.
  3. Add Sauce to Meatballs: Pour the prepared sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker. Gently stir to coat all the meatballs evenly with the sauce.
  4. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours. Stir the meatballs halfway through the cooking time to ensure even heating. Meatballs should be heated through and the sauce should be bubbly and slightly thickened.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve the meatballs hot over rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use fully cooked frozen meatballs for convenience and best results.
  • You can adjust the crushed red pepper flakes to control the heat level or omit for a milder sauce.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can remove the lid in the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some sauce reduction.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice, noodles, or fresh steamed vegetables.
  • For a gluten-free option, ensure soy sauce and hoisin sauce used are gluten-free varieties.
