Ingredients
Meatballs
- 1 32 oz bag frozen fully cooked meatballs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
Sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cloves garlic (minced or 1 tsp garlic powder)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for depth)
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)
Garnish (optional)
- Sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the crock pot with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the frozen meatballs evenly in the slow cooker.
- Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic (or garlic powder), ketchup, optional sesame oil, and optional crushed red pepper flakes until well combined.
- Add Sauce to Meatballs: Pour the prepared sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker. Gently stir to coat all the meatballs evenly with the sauce.
- Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours. Stir the meatballs halfway through the cooking time to ensure even heating. Meatballs should be heated through and the sauce should be bubbly and slightly thickened.
- Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve the meatballs hot over rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use fully cooked frozen meatballs for convenience and best results.
- You can adjust the crushed red pepper flakes to control the heat level or omit for a milder sauce.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can remove the lid in the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some sauce reduction.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice, noodles, or fresh steamed vegetables.
- For a gluten-free option, ensure soy sauce and hoisin sauce used are gluten-free varieties.
