Ingredients
For the Filling
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 5 eggs
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for rolling dough)
- 2 ounce shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 fully cooked turkey breakfast sausages
For the Dough
- 8 Pillsbury crescent rolls (1 can)
For the Egg Wash
- 1 egg (beaten)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ (190℃) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Scrambled Eggs: In a bowl, beat 5 eggs with salt and pepper. Heat 1 teaspoon of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Pour the eggs in and gently stir and fold them with a spatula, forming large soft curds. Cook until no liquid remains, then remove from heat.
- Prepare Dough: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour onto your work surface. Unroll the crescent roll dough over the flour and gently roll it out with a rolling pin if needed. Pinch the seams together and cut the dough into 8 equal rectangles.
- Assemble Rolls: Place a couple spoonfuls of scrambled eggs, a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, and one turkey sausage on each dough rectangle. Roll each rectangle tightly around the filling and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Apply Egg Wash and Season: Brush each roll with the beaten egg to give a glossy, golden finish. Sprinkle with a little extra salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Notes
- Using fully cooked sausage saves time and ensures even cooking inside the rolls.
- You can substitute shredded cheese with your favorite type, such as mozzarella or pepper jack, for a different flavor.
- Make sure not to overfill the dough to prevent spillage during baking.
- These rolls are best enjoyed warm but can be refrigerated and reheated later.
