Description
This Drinking Caramel Recipe creates a rich and creamy caramel sauce perfect for enjoying warm in cups, offering a delightful blend of toasted brown sugar and smooth cream with a hint of sea salt and vanilla.
Ingredients
Caramel Base
- 1 cup Wholesome!™ Organic Light Brown Sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
Flavoring and Cream
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Heat Sugar: Place the brown sugar and water in a large deep sauté pan and heat over medium heat. Bring the sugar to a low boil and continue cooking for 5-7 minutes until the sugar darkens to a deep brown color and emits a toasted aroma.
- Incorporate Cream: Carefully and slowly whisk in the heavy cream. Initially, the mixture will boil and firm up but continue whisking until the sugar fully dissolves and blends with the cream.
- Add Flavor: Stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract, then simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken the caramel sauce.
- Serve: Ladle the warm caramel into espresso cups and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Use a deep pan to avoid spillage when the cream is added.
- Whisking constantly when adding cream prevents separation and clumping.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator and gently reheat before serving.
