Description

This Drinking Caramel Recipe creates a rich and creamy caramel sauce perfect for enjoying warm in cups, offering a delightful blend of toasted brown sugar and smooth cream with a hint of sea salt and vanilla.

Ingredients

Caramel Base

  • 1 cup Wholesome!™ Organic Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Flavoring and Cream

  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat Sugar: Place the brown sugar and water in a large deep sauté pan and heat over medium heat. Bring the sugar to a low boil and continue cooking for 5-7 minutes until the sugar darkens to a deep brown color and emits a toasted aroma.
  2. Incorporate Cream: Carefully and slowly whisk in the heavy cream. Initially, the mixture will boil and firm up but continue whisking until the sugar fully dissolves and blends with the cream.
  3. Add Flavor: Stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract, then simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken the caramel sauce.
  4. Serve: Ladle the warm caramel into espresso cups and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use a deep pan to avoid spillage when the cream is added.
  • Whisking constantly when adding cream prevents separation and clumping.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator and gently reheat before serving.
