Description

A delicate and comforting Sakura Latte made by infusing milk with fragrant cherry blossom powder, sweetened with honey, and topped with a light frothy cream. This warm beverage celebrates the subtle floral flavors of sakura, perfect for a cozy treat or a unique twist on your usual latte.

Ingredients

Milk Base

  • 1 cup / 240 ml / 8 fl oz milk (dairy or dairy-free)
  • 2 tbsp Sakura powder, plus more for garnish

Sweetener

  • 1 tbsp honey (can substitute with maple syrup)

Optional Topping

  • 1/4 cup / 60 ml / 2 fl oz heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Warm milk: Pour the milk into a small saucepan and add the Sakura powder. Cook over medium-high heat on the stovetop until the milk is warm and begins to steam, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Whisk constantly to dissolve the Sakura powder thoroughly. Taste the milk and add an extra tablespoon of Sakura powder if a stronger floral flavor is desired.
  2. Add sweetener: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the honey or your preferred sweetener. Start with 1 tablespoon of honey and add more if you prefer additional sweetness.
  3. Whip cream: Pour the heavy cream into a small, chilled bowl. Using a milk frother or small whisk, whip the cream until it becomes frothy and light, creating a soft foam rather than stiff peaks.
  4. Assemble: Pour the warm Sakura-infused milk into a cup or mug. Gently spoon the foamy whipped cream over the top using a large tablespoon. Sprinkle additional dried Sakura powder on the foam for garnish and an extra hint of cherry blossom aroma.
  5. Serve: Serve your Sakura Latte warm and enjoy the gentle floral notes and creamy texture that make this drink a delightful treat.

Notes

  • You can use any milk variety, including dairy-free options like almond, soy, or oat milk.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less honey or maple syrup.
  • The whipped cream topping is optional but adds a luxurious texture and richness.
  • For a cold version, let the milk cool, then pour over ice and top with whipped cream.
  • Be sure to whisk constantly while warming the milk to prevent the Sakura powder from clumping or sticking to the pan.
