Description

This Pumpkin Whipped Feta Dip is a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet appetizer perfect for fall gatherings or any occasion. Combining smooth whipped feta cheese with unsweetened pumpkin puree, Greek yogurt, honey, and aromatic thyme, it creates a unique flavor profile that pairs wonderfully with toasted crusty bread or crackers. Finished with a drizzle of honey and optional crunchy walnuts, this dip is easy to prepare and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Dip Ingredients

  • Approx. 8 oz (220 grams) block of feta cheese, drained from brine
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 1-2 Tbsp honey (plus more for serving)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (or 2 tsp fresh thyme)
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

To Serve

  • Fresh thyme (for garnish, can use dried if needed)
  • Chopped walnuts, raw or toasted (optional)
  • Crusty toasted bread (such as sourdough or baguette)
  • Crackers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the whipped feta: Add the drained feta cheese and Greek yogurt to a food processor. Blend for several minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides with a spatula to ensure even blending.
  2. Add pumpkin and seasonings: To the whipped feta mixture, add the canned pumpkin puree, 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey depending on your desired sweetness, dried or fresh thyme, and freshly cracked black pepper. Blend again until all ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
  3. Chill the dip: Transfer the whipped feta pumpkin dip into a covered container and refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes. Chilling helps the flavors meld and firms up the dip for better texture when serving.
  4. Garnish and serve: Once chilled, transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Garnish with a handful of chopped walnuts if using, a sprinkle of fresh thyme leaves, an extra drizzle of honey, and additional cracked black pepper to taste.
  5. Serve with dippables: Offer the pumpkin whipped feta dip alongside crusty toasted bread such as sourdough or baguette slices and crackers. Enjoy this flavorful, creamy dip as a perfect starter or party snack.

Notes

  • Drain the feta cheese well to avoid excess liquid in the dip.
  • Adjust honey quantity to your preferred level of sweetness.
  • Walnuts add a nice crunch but are optional for a nut-free version.
  • Can be made up to a day ahead and kept refrigerated, just bring to room temperature before serving.
  • Use pure canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, to keep flavors balanced.
