Description

These Pepperoni & Cheese Crisps are a quick and delicious keto-friendly snack featuring crispy melted cheese topped with savory pepperoni slices. Perfect for dipping in sugar-free tomato sauce, they make a satisfying low-carb appetizer or snack that’s ready in just minutes.

Ingredients

Cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of shredded mozzarella and parmesan)

Pepperoni

  • 12 slices pepperoni

Dip

  • 1/4 cup sugar free tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Skillet: Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat to ensure even cooking of the cheese piles without sticking.
  2. Cook Cheese Piles: Add about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese in flat piles to the skillet, spacing them evenly. Cook for about one minute until the cheese begins to bubble.
  3. Add Pepperoni: Place one slice of pepperoni on top of each bubbling cheese pile. Continue cooking for another minute or until the cheese edges start to brown and crisp.
  4. Flip Crisps: Carefully flip each crisp pepperoni side down using a spatula. Cook for an additional 30 seconds to crisp the bottom side.
  5. Serve: Transfer the crisps to a plate with the pepperoni side facing up. Serve warm with sugar-free tomato sauce for dipping. Repeat the process with remaining cheese and pepperoni.

Notes

  • Use a nonstick skillet to prevent cheese from sticking during cooking.
  • Feel free to mix cheeses like mozzarella and parmesan for a different flavor profile and texture.
  • Serve immediately for the crispiest texture; they tend to soften if left to sit.
  • These crisps can be stored briefly in an airtight container and reheated in a skillet to regain crispiness.
  • Sugar-free tomato sauce keeps this a keto-friendly snack choice.
