Description

A refreshing and simple Iced Matcha Latte recipe that combines the vibrant flavor of matcha green tea powder with your choice of milk, served chilled over ice. Perfect for a quick, energizing beverage to enjoy any time of day.

Ingredients

Matcha Mixture

  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 cup warm water

For Serving

  • Ice, as needed
  • Milk of choice (e.g., almond milk) enough to fill glasses 3/4 full
  • Optional: simple syrup, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Matcha Paste: In a measuring cup or bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of matcha powder with 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water. Whisk thoroughly until the powder fully dissolves and forms a smooth paste without lumps.
  2. Add Water and Chill: Pour in 1 cup of warm water to the matcha paste and mix well. Transfer the mixture to the refrigerator or freezer and chill for about 15 minutes until cold.
  3. Assemble the Iced Matcha Latte: Fill two glasses with ice cubes, then pour your milk of choice into each glass until it is about three-quarters full. If desired, add simple syrup to sweeten. Finally, pour the chilled matcha mixture over the milk and stir gently to combine before serving.

Notes

  • For a stronger matcha flavor, use less milk or add an extra half teaspoon of matcha powder.
  • To make it vegan, use plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy milk.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup or using alternatives like honey or agave nectar.
  • Whisking with a bamboo whisk (chasen) is ideal, but a small regular whisk or frother works well for good incorporation.
  • For a quicker chill, place the mixture in the freezer for about 10 minutes but watch closely to avoid freezing.
