Description
A refreshing and simple Iced Matcha Latte recipe that combines the vibrant flavor of matcha green tea powder with your choice of milk, served chilled over ice. Perfect for a quick, energizing beverage to enjoy any time of day.
Ingredients
Matcha Mixture
- 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1 to 2 tablespoons hot water
- 1 cup warm water
For Serving
- Ice, as needed
- Milk of choice (e.g., almond milk) enough to fill glasses 3/4 full
- Optional: simple syrup, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Matcha Paste: In a measuring cup or bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of matcha powder with 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water. Whisk thoroughly until the powder fully dissolves and forms a smooth paste without lumps.
- Add Water and Chill: Pour in 1 cup of warm water to the matcha paste and mix well. Transfer the mixture to the refrigerator or freezer and chill for about 15 minutes until cold.
- Assemble the Iced Matcha Latte: Fill two glasses with ice cubes, then pour your milk of choice into each glass until it is about three-quarters full. If desired, add simple syrup to sweeten. Finally, pour the chilled matcha mixture over the milk and stir gently to combine before serving.
Notes
- For a stronger matcha flavor, use less milk or add an extra half teaspoon of matcha powder.
- To make it vegan, use plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy milk.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup or using alternatives like honey or agave nectar.
- Whisking with a bamboo whisk (chasen) is ideal, but a small regular whisk or frother works well for good incorporation.
- For a quicker chill, place the mixture in the freezer for about 10 minutes but watch closely to avoid freezing.
