Description
These Honey Garlic Chicken Bites are a quick and easy skillet recipe featuring tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for a delicious weeknight dinner, they’re cooked to golden perfection and garnished with fresh parsley for a burst of flavor.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Cooking Fat
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup low sodium chicken broth
- ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- ½ teaspoon pepper, or to taste
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prep the chicken: Toss the chicken cubes thoroughly with cornstarch until each piece is fully coated. This helps to create a light crust when cooking and thickens the sauce later.
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil and butter together in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook them for 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through.
- Make the sauce: While the chicken cooks, whisk together the minced garlic, red pepper flakes, honey, low sodium chicken broth, salt, and pepper in a small bowl to create the honey garlic sauce.
- Toss everything together: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Reduce the heat to low and toss the chicken in the sauce. Allow it to cook together for a couple more minutes so the flavors meld and the sauce slightly thickens.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish the chicken bites with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately, ideally over steamed rice or alongside your favorite steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- For extra heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes according to your taste preference.
- If you want a thicker sauce, let it simmer a minute longer on low heat after combining with the chicken.
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; avoid pre-minced garlic as it can lose its potency.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor as the sauce may thicken and harden upon standing.
- Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated gently on stovetop.
