Description
This Frozen Hot Chocolate is a decadent, cold twist on the classic warm beverage, blending rich semi-sweet chocolate with creamy milk and ice for a frosty, smooth treat perfect for hot days or when you crave a refreshing chocolate indulgence.
Ingredients
Chocolate Mixture
- 4 ounces high quality semi-sweet chocolate (113g), chopped
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar (32g)
- 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (7.5g)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk (360g), divided
Other
- 1 to 2 cups ice cubes (130-260g)
- Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Melt chocolate: Chop the semi-sweet chocolate into small pieces for even melting. Heat the chocolate in the microwave at half power, stirring every 20 seconds until completely smooth and melted to avoid burning.
- Mix ingredients: To the melted chocolate, stir in granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup of milk, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Blend: Transfer the chocolate mixture into a blender. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of ice cubes. Blend on high speed until smooth and frosty. Add more ice cubes if you prefer a thicker consistency.
- Serve: Pour the frozen hot chocolate into glasses immediately. Top with whipped cream if desired for an extra creamy and indulgent finish.
Notes
- Use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
- Adjust sugar according to your sweetness preference.
- For a richer taste, substitute whole milk or add a splash of heavy cream.
- If you want a vegan version, use plant-based milk and dark chocolate that is dairy-free.
- The drink is best served immediately to enjoy the frosty texture before it melts.
