Description

This Frozen Hot Chocolate is a decadent, cold twist on the classic warm beverage, blending rich semi-sweet chocolate with creamy milk and ice for a frosty, smooth treat perfect for hot days or when you crave a refreshing chocolate indulgence.

Ingredients

Chocolate Mixture

  • 4 ounces high quality semi-sweet chocolate (113g), chopped
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar (32g)
  • 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (7.5g)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (360g), divided

Other

  • 1 to 2 cups ice cubes (130-260g)
  • Whipped cream, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate: Chop the semi-sweet chocolate into small pieces for even melting. Heat the chocolate in the microwave at half power, stirring every 20 seconds until completely smooth and melted to avoid burning.
  2. Mix ingredients: To the melted chocolate, stir in granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup of milk, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Blend: Transfer the chocolate mixture into a blender. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of ice cubes. Blend on high speed until smooth and frosty. Add more ice cubes if you prefer a thicker consistency.
  4. Serve: Pour the frozen hot chocolate into glasses immediately. Top with whipped cream if desired for an extra creamy and indulgent finish.

Notes

  • Use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
  • Adjust sugar according to your sweetness preference.
  • For a richer taste, substitute whole milk or add a splash of heavy cream.
  • If you want a vegan version, use plant-based milk and dark chocolate that is dairy-free.
  • The drink is best served immediately to enjoy the frosty texture before it melts.
