Description
The Extra Dirty Martini is a bold and flavorful twist on the classic martini, featuring a generous amount of green olive brine alongside vodka and dry vermouth. Served ice-cold and garnished with green olives, this cocktail offers a savory and briny taste that’s perfect for those who love a dirtier, more intense martini experience.
Ingredients
Liquids
- 2 oz (60 ml) vodka
- ½ oz (15 ml) dry vermouth
- 2 oz (60 ml) green olive brine
Garnish
- 2-4 green olives
Instructions
- Chill the glass: Place a martini glass in the freezer to chill while you prepare your cocktail. This ensures your drink stays cold longer.
- Combine ingredients: Add the vodka, dry vermouth, and green olive brine into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. The brine is what makes this martini ‘extra dirty’ and adds a robust, savory flavor.
- Shake the cocktail: Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels well chilled and lightly frosted on the outside. Shaking dilutes and chills the ingredients perfectly, balancing the heavier olive brine.
- Strain and garnish: Remove the martini glass from the freezer and strain the cocktail into it. Garnish with 2 to 4 green olives according to your preference. Serve immediately while very cold.
Notes
- You can substitute vodka with gin if desired, using the same measurements.
- Shaking, rather than stirring, is intentional to properly chill and dilute the olive brine-intensive cocktail.
- Adjust the amount of olive brine to suit how ‘dirty’ you prefer your martini.
- Always use fresh green olive brine from a jar or bottle for the best flavor.
