Description

These no-bake oatmeal energy balls are a quick and healthy snack packed with rolled oats, peanut butter, chia seeds, and a touch of sweetness from maple syrup or honey. Ready in just five minutes, they are perfect for on-the-go snacking or a wholesome treat anytime.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats or quick oats
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter or allergy-friendly substitute
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup, honey, or agave
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Optional Add-ins

  • Handful of mini chocolate chips or raisins

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Nut Butter: If your nut butter isn’t soft, gently warm it until it’s easy to stir. This makes mixing all the ingredients much easier, resulting in a smoother texture for your energy balls.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the rolled oats, chia seeds, and salt (plus chocolate chips or raisins if using). This combines all the dry flavors and textures for an even bite.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the peanut butter (or substitute) and your choice of sweetener. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is evenly combined and there are no dry patches.
  4. Shape the Energy Balls: Roll the mixture into individual balls, or press flat to form cookies if you prefer. Aim for about 1-inch balls for the perfect snack size.
  5. Store Properly: Place the energy balls in a covered container. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week, in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks, or freeze for up to 4 months for longer storage.

Notes

  • You can customize the recipe by using different nut or seed butters if you have allergies or prefer another flavor.
  • Add other mix-ins like shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or dried fruit for variety.
  • If the mixture seems too dry, add a little more nut butter or sweetener. If it’s too wet, mix in extra oats.
  • Perfect for meal prep—double the batch and freeze some for later!
