Description

Delight your Valentine with these delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Valentine’s Hearts. A perfect blend of creamy peanut butter and rich chocolate, these no-bake treats are easy to make and ideal for sharing. Pressed into a heart shape and coated with smooth chocolate, they offer a sweet and satisfying bite for any chocolate and peanut butter lover.

Ingredients

Peanut Butter Layer

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter, room temperature
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Chocolate Coating

  • 10-12 oz. chocolate, chopped into small pieces (half semi-sweet and half milk chocolate) or good quality candy coating

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dish: Line an 8 x 8 inch dish with parchment paper, allowing the paper to overhang the sides for easy removal later. Set aside.
  2. Mix peanut butter base: In a mixing bowl, stir together the creamy peanut butter, melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar dissolves completely. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until fully combined.
  3. Press mixture into dish: Transfer the peanut butter mixture into the prepared dish. Smooth the top with a spatula or press with your palms to create an even layer about ½ inch thick.
  4. Freeze to firm up: Place the dish in the freezer until the mixture is firm enough to cut, approximately 30-60 minutes.
  5. Cut heart shapes: Once firm, line a tray with parchment paper. Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts from the peanut butter layer and place them on the tray. Gather and knead leftover pieces to cut out additional hearts.
  6. Freeze hearts: Return the cut hearts to the freezer until firm again.
  7. Melt the chocolate: While hearts firm up, melt the chopped chocolate or candy coating gently, either using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently.
  8. Dip hearts in chocolate: Using a fork, dip each peanut butter heart into the melted chocolate, ensuring complete coverage. Tap the fork gently to remove excess chocolate and place the hearts back onto the parchment-lined tray.
  9. Set the chocolate: Refrigerate the chocolate-covered hearts until the chocolate has fully set, about 15-30 minutes.
  10. Store: Store the finished hearts in the refrigerator for short term or freeze for longer storage to maintain freshness and firmness.

Notes

  • To make cutting and dipping easier, work with only a few hearts at a time as the peanut butter mixture softens quickly at room temperature.
  • If new to chocolate dipping, candy coating is easier to work with than real chocolate.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Leftover mixture can be re-kneaded and re-cut to minimize waste.
  • Keep the finished chocolates refrigerated to prevent melting.
  • For a firmer texture, freeze the hearts before dipping and setting.
