Description
Cherry Pie Iced Tea is a nostalgic, refreshing drink that captures the essence of cherry pie in a glass. Sweet, tart, and infused with notes of vanilla and butter, this iced tea is perfect for summer picnics or anytime you crave a fruity twist on classic black tea. Homemade cherry pie syrup blends beautifully with your favorite unsweetened tea, creating a beverage that’s both unique and utterly delicious.
Ingredients
Homemade Syrup
- 1 cup frozen pitted cherries
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup water
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon butter extract
- ½ teaspoon cake batter extract (optional)
Cherry Pie Iced Tea
- 2 cups Gold Peak Unsweetened Black Tea
- 4 tablespoons cherry pie syrup
- Fresh cherries, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the Cherries: Add the frozen pitted cherries, granulated sugar, water, and a pinch of salt to a saucepan. Gradually heat over medium, mashing the cherries as they soften. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens slightly; remember it will thicken more as it cools.
- Strain the Syrup: Pour the cherry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing down on the cherries to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids or use for another recipe.
- Flavor the Syrup: While the syrup is still warm, stir in lemon juice, vanilla extract, butter extract, and cake batter extract (if using). Set aside the finished syrup to cool completely.
- Mix the Iced Tea: In a large glass or pitcher, combine 2 cups of chilled Gold Peak Unsweetened Black Tea and 4 tablespoons of the cooled cherry pie syrup. Stir well to blend the flavors.
- Serve: Pour the iced tea over ice and garnish with fresh cherries if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- The cherry syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- You can substitute other black teas or even green tea if you prefer a different flavor base.
- If you want a stronger cherry flavor, add more syrup to taste.
- Cake batter extract is optional but adds a fun ‘pie’ note to the drink.
- This recipe can be doubled or halved depending on your needs.
