Description

Brazilian Lemonade is a creamy and refreshingly tangy lime drink native to Brazil, blending the brightness of fresh lime juice and zest with the smooth sweetness of sweetened condensed milk. It’s a popular summertime beverage, served cold over ice, and features a uniquely creamy texture that sets it apart from classic lemonades.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups cold water, divided
  • 1 cup baker’s sugar (or granulated sugar)
  • Zest of 2 limes
  • 1 cup + 1 Tbsp fresh squeezed lime juice (from about 68 limes)
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

For Serving

  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedges (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Water: Measure 3 cups of the cold water and pour it into a blender. Pour the remaining 3 cups cold water into your serving pitcher.
  2. Combine Ingredients in Blender: Add the sugar, zest of 2 limes, lime juice, and sweetened condensed milk to the blender with the water.
  3. Blend Until Frothy: Firmly hold the blender lid and blend everything together until the mixture is fully combined and frothy.
  4. Mix with Remaining Water: Pour the blended mixture into the pitcher with the reserved cold water. Stir thoroughly to combine.
  5. Serve: Pour Brazilian Lemonade over glasses of ice and garnish each serving with a lime wedge. Enjoy immediately while cold and creamy.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free or vegan version, substitute the sweetened condensed milk with a dairy-free alternative or coconut sweetened condensed milk.
  • Use very cold water and serve over plenty of ice for maximum refreshment.
  • To extract more juice, roll limes on the counter with your hand before juicing.
  • This drink is best served fresh and should not be left to stand for several hours, as the flavor and texture can change.
