Description
A refreshing and naturally sweetened peach iced tea made with just three main ingredients. This easy recipe combines homemade peach syrup with freshly brewed black tea for a delicious summertime beverage that’s perfect for cooling down on warm days.
Ingredients
Tea
- 3 black tea bags
- 4 cups boiling water
Peach Syrup
- 3 large ripe peaches, chopped
- 2 cups water (divided)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (use 1/2 cup for sweeter tea)
Instructions
- Make the black tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a light simmer in a pot on the stove or using an electric kettle. Remove from heat and add the tea bags, ensuring they are fully submerged. Let steep for 5 minutes, then carefully remove the tea bags. Allow the tea to cool before transferring to the fridge to chill.
- Make the peach syrup: In a blender, combine 1 cup of water, the granulated sugar, and chopped peaches. Blend briefly for 2-3 seconds, just enough to break them down. Pour this mixture into a large pot and add the remaining 1 cup of water. Heat on medium stove heat until it reaches a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes.
- Strain the syrup: Using a fine sieve, strain the peach syrup into a large pitcher or jar, pressing down on the puree to extract all the juice. Chill the syrup in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- Assemble the iced tea: Combine the chilled black tea and peach syrup in a large pitcher. Stir well to mix. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh peach slices for decoration.
Notes
- For sweeter tea, increase sugar to 1/2 cup as preferred.
- Use ripe peaches for maximum natural sweetness and flavor.
- Chilling both tea and syrup before combining ensures a refreshing iced tea.
- Peach slices are optional but add a nice decorative touch.
- This tea is best served fresh within 2-3 days.
